Job Title and Summary: Relationship Manager – Financial Institutions Department
The candidate should be a results-oriented professional with broad experience in correspondent banking, managing existing relationships and sourcing new ones. The focus shall be to strengthen and add value to the FI function within FIMBank with a view to contribute in generating profit for the bank and the Group. The Relationship Manager is primarily responsible for business development in relevant geographical areas and emerging markets within the risk framework and appetite guidelines of the institution. Other major duties shall include, but shall not be restricted to sourcing funding, acting as the first-line of defence from a compliance and credit perspective, cross sell group products and optimise cash payment flows.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Enhance the existing network of correspondent banks and establish relationships with major players in key areas.
• Obtain credit limits for trade finance and treasury business to support liquidity and trading operations of the Group.
• Setting a customer business plan, including new limits for suitable counterparties, apply adequate pricing in line with market practice and the institution’s own considerations.
• Prepare and present credit applications for approval by Credit Committee.
• Issuance of Facility Letters and Pledge Agreements.
• Assess and monitor exposure to ensure optimization of limits.
• Enhance counterparty limit availability, including insurance of trade transactions.
• Sale/Purchase of trade transactions through Master Participation Agreements.
• Source primary syndicated loan participation opportunities from banks worldwide.
• Identifying new trade transactions for confirmation / discounting / participation.
• Structuring of risk mitigants.
• Enhance counterparty limit availability.
• Maintenance of Vostro/Nostro relations.
• Support Treasury in onboarding counterparties for business generation, Money Market placements. within the established lines and broaden deposit/placement capacity.
• Act as first line of defence for all KYC matters of FI counterparties, including ongoing monitoring.
• Assist and guide the middle office functions to extend support to all banking relationships and Group members.
• Frequent travel to assigned countries to fulfil department goals and drafting of call report.
• Cross sell of all group functions.
Required Skills and Competencies
• Strong knowledge of the banking industry, specifically trade finance, cash management, and treasury products.
• Business and credit analysis skills.
• Solid international network and contacts within the Financial Institutions sphere.
• Strong analytical skills. Able to analyse transactions and reach balanced judgements.
• Excellent communication skills within a multi cultured environment.
• The ability to adapt to required strategies and support the delivery of the business objectives.
• Use of initiative and confident decision making.
• Time management – priority setting.
• Ability to build and leverage relationships while achieving the goals and objectives of the organization and department.
Required Qualifications
• 8 + years or equivalent in correspondent banking.
• Banking / financial background.
• Linguistic skills are a must – perfect command of the English language, French or other.
• Strategic global thinker with ability to successfully communicate and implement processes.
• Proficiency to negotiate, influence and gain trust of others.
