Head of Risk

FIMBank is an International Trade Finance Bank with an International network of offices spanning five continents.  The Bank is headquartered in Malta, is listed on the Malta Stock Exchange, and regulated by the Malta Financial Services Authority. 

General Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assure that credit approval processes and procedures are followed globally, adjust and refine processes as needed;

• circulation of credit materials to delegated authorities and Committees to assure timely approvals;

• identifying material individual, aggregate and emerging risks , assessing these risks and measuring the bank’s exposure to them;

• supporting the Credit Committee and the Board Risk Committee in its implementation, review and approval of the enterprise-wide risk governance framework which includes the bank’s risk culture, risk appetite and risk limits;

• ongoing monitoring and reporting of the risk-taking activities and risk exposures to ensure they are in line with the board-approved risk appetite, risk limits and corresponding capital or liquidity needs (ie capital planning);

• establishing an appropriate framework for the analysis and monitoring of credit, market and operational risks, including early warning or trigger system for breaches of the bank’s risk appetite or limits;

• influencing and, when necessary, challenging material risk decisions; and

• reporting to senior management and the relevant committees, as appropriate, on all these items, including but not limited to proposing appropriate risk-mitigating actions

Experience Required:

• 10+ years relevant risk and  financial experience;

• knowledge of credit, market, operational risks in a global environment;

• extensive knowledge of structured trade finance, cross border risks , financial institutions and  related matters;

• knowledge of Basel 3/3.5, CRR/CRDIV, IFRS9 framework and other prudential regulations;

• strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills that clearly articulates messages to a variety of audiences;

• fluent in English;

• strong interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork;

• strong knowledge of MS Excel and Power Point;

• self-Motivated; takes the initiative to start projects/processes; and

• Credibility, assertiveness and judgement

Qualifications:

• University degree BA or equivalent.

• On-the-job experience in previous risk management roles

• Credit and financial analysis programmes/courses and certifications preferred
