Regulatory and Market Risk Manager

Job Duties:

The main responsibilities of the Regulatory and Market Risk Manager are to assess and monitor Regulatory risks mainly emanating from the CRD and CRR rules. This includes keeping abreast with regulatory developments concerning risk management (both locally and at ECB level) together with the preparation of key regulatory reports as required. Detailed tasks related to the monitoring aspect of Regulatory Risk mainly include:

• Co-ordinating and drafting regulatory documentation as required by the MFSA;

• Preparation of ICAAP and related stress test scenarios;

• Preparation of ILAAP and related stress test scenarios;

• Preparation of Recovery Plan and related stress test scenarios;

• Co-ordinate with management feedback and replies to Regulatory Authorities (MFSA/ECB)in relation to the above key documents; and

• Monitor and provide input on budgets and Long Range Plans.

The Section is also responsible to monitor the Bank’s Market risks, setting of market risk parameters and liquidity benchmarks and ratios in line with rules, regulations and internal decisions taken by the CRO, Executive Management, or BRC. Tasks related to the Market Risk monitoring role are split between Foreign Exchange Risk, Interest Rate Risk and Other Price Risk and need to be monitored through daily, and monthly reports obtained from Finance and Treasury. These include monitoring of Market related risk indicators as established through the Risk Appetite statement and other internal controls.Other responsibilities include monitoring of the Bank’s liquidity risk to ensure that these are in line with regulatory and internal limits. Detailed tasks related to liquidity risk monitoring include but are not limited to the following:

• Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR) – daily;

• Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR) – monthly.

• Reporting and presenting to Senior Management and or Board Risk Committee as required

Experience Required

• 7+ years relevant risk , regulatory or  financial experience

• Knowledge of credit, market, operational risks 

• Regulatory knowledge preferred : Knowledge of Basel 3/3.5, CRR/CRDIV, IFRS9 framework and other prudential regulations

• Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills that clearly articulates messages to a variety of audiences. Fluent in English.

• Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork.

• Strong knowledge of MS Excel and Power Point

• Self-Motivated; takes the initiative to start projects/processes

• Credibility, assertiveness and judgement Qualifications

• University degree BA or equivalent.

• On-the-job experience in previous risk management roles

• Credit and financial analysis programmes/courses and certifications preferred
