Group Head of Regulatory Compliance

Reporting to the Group Chief Compliance Officer the ideal candidate is expected to drive the ongoing evolution of the Regulatory Compliance to ensure relevance and strategic competitive advantage. This includes managing the Regulatory Compliance team based in Malta and oversight of compliance officers in subsidiaries in other countries. Although the role does not involve day-to-day involvement in Anti Financial Crime matters, the fact that this role acts as deputy to the Group Chief Compliance Officer requires that the candidate has a good understanding of the financial crime risks posed to the Group.

Job Tasks

- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Regulatory Compliance Team;

- Advise and maintain regulatory oversight over the activities of other control functions and support areas that are required to comply with relevant directives and regulations (eg Finance, Risk Management, Legal, HR etc.,);

- Develop, maintain and advise on FIMBank Group policies and minimum global standards;

- Keep abreast of regulatory and industry trends to manage compliance risk and advise relevant stakeholders ensuring that there are no gaps and that those responsible for compliance are accountable;

- Liaise with other Risk Management functions as well as Legal to ensure an integrated approach to risk management;

- Ensure compliance communications and training support to the business lines as required;

- Manage consolidated internal and external reporting on the status of Compliance risks across the FIMBank Group;

- Conduct reviews and testing of the relevant functions in other areas in relation to the above; and

- Act as Deputy for the Group Chief Compliance Officer

Competencies/Behaviour (identify and evaluate)

- First Degree in Finance, Banking, Compliance or related discipline (not mandatory);

- Good communication and presentation skills;

- Proven ability to learn and to adapt to a changing environment;

- Self motivated and self driven;

- Excellent team player;

- Fluency in English a necessity and other languages would be considered an additional asset; and

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is a minimum requirement

Key Relationships

This job necessitates continuous interaction with the relationship officers, regulators, executive management and the Audit Committee and its members.
