FIMBank p.l.c. holds annual reception and offsite meeting

On January 11th 2008 FIMBank p.l.c. held its annual reception at Hilton Hotel celebrating another successful year for this specialized trade finance bank. The reception was attended by many clients as well as other local and international professionals and associates of the Bank.

The reception was followed by the Annual Offsite Meeting of FIMBank Group. Managers from FIMBank’s subsidiaries and joint ventures from New York, Sao Paolo, London, Moscow, Istanbul, Dubai, Mumbai, Cairo and Singapore joined local managers to review the Group’s performance and discuss new strategies and policies.

Dr. John C. Grech, Vice Chairman of FIMBank opened the meeting highlighting the importance of change and the need to keep an open mind in an environment of progress. Margrith Lütschg-Emmenegger, President of FIMBank p.l.c. welcomed the 52 managers, updating them with the bank’s performance and the 2008 budget. She thanked all attendees for another very successful year congratulating them on their achievements and inviting them to go beyond their success in 2008.

She presented the strategy for the next coming years stating that the consequences of the future have to be addressed today. Although the results were consistently exceeding expectations, the managers were encouraged to maintain the momentum in a changing market.

The President’s address was followed by a presentation done by Mr. Sean Aston, General Manager, London Forfaiting Company, Singapore, on structured finance explaining the complexities of commodity finance and their implications.

The Offsite meeting was concluded by a presentation from the guest of honor, Professor Joseph Banister, Chairman of MFSA on the Financial Legislation in Malta highlighting the achievements of the Financial Sector and the expectations for the future.
