FIMBank plc Sponsors run for Charity

22.08.2006

FIMBank’s Chief Representative of the London Office, Nigel Harris and his son Ryan participated in a charity run for Little Havens Children’s Hospice in the United Kingdom. FIMBank and some of its staff members and customers sponsored the father and son duo in contribution to this cause.

In order to increase sponsorships, Nigel had agreed to run dressed as a nurse to spur additional sponsors to donate more than the than £6,300 he raised last year. As a result, the amount pledged this time around was over £9,000, and Nigel, true to his word, turned up in his “Florence Nightingale” gear to find he was the only runner out of 233 participants in the whole race wearing fancy dress.

Nigel and Ryan were delighted to be asked by the Hospice to launch the event and were given the prestigious first two running numbers in appreciation of their efforts.

The fact that Nigel came 109th in the 5K race did not earn him the trophy, but he certainly earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues for his courage, stamina and sense of fashion! Ryan, aged 12, who is an enthusiastic and promising runner came 51st, and held the family banner high.

Little Haven Children’s Hospice is dedicated to supporting the whole family offering specialist one on one care for children with life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses free of charge.

FIMBank, the Malta based trade finance bank is truly a global institution that prides itself and encourages staff in taking part in philanthropic events.
